Palmer attending Chicago Blackhawks prospect camp

Former Brahmas goalie continues development in 'Hawks system

Among the players who began reporting to the Chicago Blackhawks Prospect Camp on Wednesday was goaltender Joe Palmer who finished his rookie season with the Texas Brahmas in April. This is Palmer's second summer prospect camp with the Stanley Cup Champions.

affiliate The prospect camp consists of most of Chicago’s draft picks over the past three seasons and several skaters vying for a free agent contract from either the Blackhawks or the team’s AHLIceHogs.

Palms would like to follow in the footsteps of Stanley Cup Champion goaltender Antti Niemi, who first appeared in a Blackhawks uniform during the 2008 Prospect Camp.

The on-ice portion of the camp began today and runs through Monday. Each day will feature two scrimmages as the camp is broken up into four teams. Palmer was in net for the first frame of this morning's scrimmage and at least one observer noted how improved he looks this year. Take a look at some photos from today's session here.

On another note - If you would like to own Joe's Rockford IceHogs sweater from last season, you can bid on it here.
