Defenseman Ross Rouleau enjoys a Texas Renegades game on Sunday

The Waiting is the hardest part

With the league deadline for the final roster coming tomorrow, Texas Brahmas prospects wait to hear if they will make the team

Texas Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong is waiting until the last moment to release his final roster of 19 players - the number required by the league's deadline of tomorrow, October 16.

Wildfong made four cuts from the training camp roster last Friday, releasing forwards Zech Klann, Mark Van Vliet, Andrew Scampoli and defenseman Sheldon Wing.

I spoke with defenseman Ross Rouleau at the Texas Renegades game on Sunday and he seemed anxious to learn his fate but at the same time understood that there was nothing he could do but wait.

"I'm just going to keep going to practice and hope for the best" Rouleau said.

With what little information is available, the Insider believes the following will occur:

The Brahmas have the goaltending tandem of David Cacciola and Brett Jaeger set and will waive Matt Ezzy who has already left for Ottawa.

The Brahmas defensive corps will be anchored by veterans Craig Minard and Mike Vellinga and will include Chris Mann, Justin Kinnunen, Matt Hanson and Kevin McLeod. Wildfong will decide between Ross Rouleau and Alex Grieg unless Chris Mann is unable to play this season (He did not report to training camp). Then both may remain with the team.

The Insider's pick: Ross Rouleau

The offense will be anchored by Veterans Lance Galbraith and Aaron Davis and will include Jason Deitsch, Scott Sheppard, Greg McConnell, Mark Carragher, Tyler Skworchinski and Pete Rouleau. Marc Belanger, Brad Bonello, Matt Quinn and Matt Burto and Stuart Macrae will compete for the remaining spots.

The Insider's picks: Brad Bonello, Stuart MacRae

Once the final cuts are announced, the Brahmas will make ready for the 3 1/2 hour bus ride to the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City, Louisiana where they will open their season this Friday against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, followed by the home opener Saturday at the NYTEX Sports Center against the Mississippi RiverKings.
