Geoff Walker signs with the Phoenix Roadrunners
Former Texas Brahma signs with ECHL team for 2008-09 season
Forward Geoff Walker will join the Phoenix Roadrunners (ECHL) this season after attending camp with the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL).
The rookie from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island joined the Brahmas for five games during the playoff run last season playing against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs and the Colorado Eagles He tallied seven shots, nine penalty minutes and a minus-three plus-minus differential.
Walker said those five games at the minor pro level were good lessons.
“You’re playing against men out there. I was going down there not really knowing what to expect from the league or anything like that, but it’s a really, really good league and kind of an eye opener to what I have to work on to play at that level or any other level as a pro,” Walker told the Charlottetown Guardian.
Walker, 20, led the Prince Edward Island Rocket and finished 10th in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League scoring race in 2007-08 with 90 points (38 G, 52 A) scored in 69 games. He registered 94 goals, 121 assists, and 215 points in 228 games during his four-year major junior career in the QMJHL.

Would have liked to have seen Walker back in the purple and black. Good size and good skills.
