Four of five Brahmas released from AHL training camps

Jaeger remains with the Aeros

Four members of the 2009-10 Texas Brahmas roster were released from American Hockey League training camp rosters yesterday. Two-time CHL all-star defenseman Justin Kinnunen (listed as a right wing during his participation in the camp) and left wing Derek Merlini were released from the Houston Aeros training camp leaving goalie Brett Jaeger behind as one of four backstoppers competing for a spot on the Aeros regular season roster.

Jaeger is competing with Barry Brust and Anton Khudobin who have played with the Aeros for the past two seasons. Also in camp is Wade Dubielewicz, who played three games in the NHL last season with the Columbus Blue Jackets. He spent the remainder of the season with Ak Bars Kazan, a KHL team in the Russian Federation. Jaeger's stats are superior to all of these netminders but may be looked down upon due to his CHL experience. Still, Brett should have an equal opportunity to impress and hopefully for him, either earn a spot on the roster or at the very least, a chance at a call up during the regular season.

Forward Ryan Cruthers was released from the Chicago Wolves training camp as well yesterday.

Defenseman Kyle Deck was in San Antonio at the San Antonio Rampage camp but did not play in last night's 2-1 loss to the Texas Stars and was released today.
