Late addition: Matt Harris

Rookie defenseman signs tryout contract with Brahmas

A late addition to the Brahmas pre-season roster is Matt Harris, a 6'1", 200 pound defenseman from Toronto, Ontario who signed a contract on Saturday.

Harris was previously signed to an amateur tryout with the Oklahoma City Blazers on March 23rd, in time for the playoffs. He played in the final three games against the Mississippi RiverKings.

Harris played two seasons of junior hockey with the OPJHL's Ajax Axemen (02-03, 03-04) with 29 points (9 G, 20 A) and 199 penalty minutes scored in 85 games. He was named Most Improved Player for the Southern Division of the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League.

He attended the Rochester Institute of Technology where he was called a "punishing hitter" and head coach Wayne Wilson spoke highly of him.

“Matt Harris is an invaluable player to our program. He brings tremendous physical toughness. Opponents are aware when he is on the ice.”

In 47 games with the Tigers, Harris tallied six points (2 G, 4 A) and 42 penalty minutes.
