99 and counting...

Deitsch approaching the scoring century mark


On Tuesday, Brahmas Captain Jason Deitsch will play in his 98th career game with the team. Thus far, the 2009 CHL Playoff Most Valuable Player has scored 99 points (33 G, 66 A) wearing the purple and black.

Deitsch has tallied 10 points (1 G, 9 A, -4) and 27 penalty minutes in 10 games played this season.

Last season, Deitsch tallied 45 points (12 G, 33 A, +3) and 78 penalty minutes in 51 games played. Showing a prowess for special teams, Deitsch was first on the team in power play goals (6) and power play assists (14) and tied for first for short-handed assists (3). He added five points (3 G, 2 A, +3) in eight post-season contests.

During the Brahmas championship year, Deitsch split time playing with the Brahmas and the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League. During the regular season, Deitsch posted 44 points (20 G, 24 A, +18) in 36 games for Texas and 15 points (4 G, 11 A) in 28 games with the Aeros.

During the postseason the Cincinnati, Ohio native went on an offensive tear, scoring a league playoff-leading 26 points (11 G, 15 A, +9) in 16 games. His leadership on and off the ice during the playoffs earned him the MVP award for the playoffs and his third championship in four years.
