Former NAHL star forward joins the Texas Brahmas
21-year-old rookie forward Ryan Fuller has signed a contract with the Texas Brahmas and appeared in his first game with the team on Sunday. The 6' 3", 215 pound Fuller had previously played in three games with the Laredo Bucks. The Morgan Hill, California native scored two goals in three pre-season games for the Bucks.
Fuller began skating when he was four and played on his first hockey team a year later. He had attended a hockey camp in New York and was recruited at the age of 15 to play junior hockey for the Texas Tornadoes (NAHL).
In his four seasons with the Tornadoes, Fuller tallied 119 points (66 G, 53 A) in 213 games played, including 28 powerplay goals and 20 powerplay assists. Fuller's 213 games are the most by any player in Tornadoes franchise history.
Fuller and the Tornadoes earned back-to-back National Championships in 2005 and 2006. The team made it to the postseason in each of his four years on the roster. In 34 career playoff games with the Tornadoes, Fuller scored 16 points (9 G, 7 A) including five game-winning goals.
Last season Fuller had 28 points (10 G, 18 A) and a career high 114 penalty minutes in 58 games. He was selected to participate in the NAHL's Top Prospects Tournament last February in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The Morgan Hill, California native had his most productive offensive season, leading the team in scoring in 2006-07 with 58 points (28 G, 30 A), including 11 powerplay goals, and 17 powerplay assists.
"He (Fuller) knows how to win and was a dominant force in our league (NAHL)," said former Tornadoes Head coach and General Manager Dwight Mullins.
