Texas Brahmas sign defenseman Eric Lundberg

Former ECHL standout joins the 2008-09 campaign

The Texas Brahmas have signed defenseman Eric Lundberg to fill the vacancy on their defensive unit. Lundberg was selected by the Colorado Avalanche (round 3 #94 overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

"Lundberg will be a strong physical presence and we look forward to having him shut down the opponent's top lines," Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong said.

He played NCAA hockey for four seasons at Providence College from 2001-2005. During his college career, he tallied 33 points (2 G, 31 A) and 145 penalty minutes in 138 games played with the Friars. Brahmas net minder David Cacciola also played on the team with Lundberg.


After finishing his education, Lundberg signed with the Augusta Lynx (ECHL) for the 2005-06 season. He played in 42 games during the regular season, scoring 10 points (3 G, 7 A). He also played in 2 playoff games that year. During the season, he was called up to the AHL. Where he played 2 games with the Syracuse Crunch and 25 games with the Albany River River Rats where he had two assists.

Lundberg spent the next season with the Augusta Lynx playing in 54 regular season games and two playoff games. He scored 15 points that season with 3 goals and 12 assists. During the 2007-08 season, Lundberg played 55 games with the Lynx and 14 with the Columbia Inferno. His combined scores equaled 30 points (3 G, 27 A).

At 25, the 6’ 3”, 200 pound native of Vernon, Connecticut is a welcome addition to the Brahmas defense, providing size and experience. He is expected to be on the ice this weekend.
