Brahmas win big at NYTEX
Texas powerplay delivers 5-3 victory over Tulsa
OK - I was elsewhere last night. Here's Meagan's game report for now until I can get caught up.
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (November 7)- The Brahmas had their own Texas-Oklahoma rivalry heat up at Saturday at the NYTEX Sports Centre when the Tulsa Oilers came to town; Texas won the match-up 5-3.
The Brahmas power play was treated to a two-man advantage early when Rick Kozak and Aaron Davis were sentenced to the box, giving Texas a 5-on-3 edge for over a minute. It took no time for Jordan Cameron to net his first goal of the season from the top of the point for a 1-0 lead.
A bench minor was handed to the home team for a delay of game as the teams returned to the ice for the second. Texas' PK unit was buzzing and it was rookie defenseman Tyrell Mason who sizzled a slapshot past Kevin Armstrong for the shorthanded goal.
At the 8:46 marker in the second the Brahmas continued to be in attack mode and it was a pass to Jason Reese from James Hiebert that found its way deflected by Kevin McLeod for the Brahmas third goal of the night.
Rookie forward Reese came out shooting with linemate Hiebert and took the puck top shelf for a Texas' fourth of the game and his first in his career.
With a 4-0 lead, the Brahmas looked to be set on coast for the remainder of the final period, giving up three unanswered goals in a six minute span. But it was Brahmas team leading scorer, A.J. Gale who pinned down the Brahmas victory with his sixth of the season on the power play for the 5-3 win.
Texas' netminder, Brett Jaeger returned in goal following a brief stint with the Houston Aeros (AHL) stopping 34 of 37 shots. The Brahmas were 2 for 6 with the man advantage.
