More comings and goings
Cooper signed, Welch waived

I did a double-take this afternoon when I saw the transaction list on Pointstreak.com. We all had the news that former Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs forward Kevin Cooper was about to join the Brahmas. The unexpected twist was right wing Dan Welch being waived.

I didn’t see a particular problem with Welch on the ice. He was one of two active forwards with a positive +/- at +3 (Lee Jubinville is a +1). In seven games played since being acquired from the Colorado Eagles on October 28th, Welch scored five points (2 G, 3 A, +3) with 12 penalty minutes served. He also scored one of the Brahmas’ rare power play goals and had a power play assist as well.

He becomes the fifth forward to be waived thus far in the regular season, following Pete Rouleau, Ryan Cruthers, Matt Cook and Mark Rooneem.

Cooper, who I discussed in a previous post, is listed on the game sheet for tonight’s game against the Gorillas.
