I-20 Series continues in Bossier City
The Texas Brahmas (31-10-4, 66 points), fresh off of their win over the Colorado Eagles, travelled to Bossier City after the game last night to get ready for tonight's match up against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs (29-13-3). The Brahmas have won seven straight and nine of their last 10 games. They are 13-7-3 on the road thus far.
The Mudbugs are coming off a win of their own against the Oklahoma City Blazers. They've won six in a row and eight of their last 10. They are 16-5-0 at CenturyTel Center this season. They hold a tenuous lead in the Northeast Division with 61 points, three points over both the Oklahoma City Blazers and the Mississippi RiverKings.
The Brahmas have won six straight games against the Mudbugs and this will be the fourth of five visits to CenturyTel this season. The Mudbugs only victory in the series came in the season opener on October 17th.
The Mudbugs top three scorers are Travis Clayton (F) with 41 points (16 G, 25 A), Joe Blaznek (F) with 41 points (15 G, 26 A) and Tyrel Lucas (F) with 37 points (16 G, 21 A).
On Special teams, the Mudbugs are ranked seventh in the league overall on the powerplay at 17.95% and 11th at home at 15.7%. On the penalty kill, Bossier-Shreveport is ranked second in the league overall at 85.90% and third at home at 88.4%.
The top three scorers for the Brahmas are Scott Sheppard (F) with 53 points (26 G, 27 A), Grant Jacobsen (F) with 46 points (18 G, 28 A) and Jordan Cameron (F) with 43 points (16 G, 27 A).
On special teams, the Brahmas are ranked 3rd in the league overall on the powerplay at 21.04% and first on the road at 21.5%. On the penalty kill, they are ranked 11th in the league overall at 81.52% and 15th on the road at 75.8% (eek).
David Cacciola (17-9-5) is expected in net for the Brahmas. Kenny Carroll (17-5-2) should get the start for the Mudbugs.
The Brahmas should be fully staffed (and then some). The Mudbugs will be without forward Evgeny Saidachev, center Brett Smith and defenseman Todd Paul who are on the injured reserve.
