Scott Sheppard Named Sher-Wood/Central Hockey League Player of the Month

Texas Brahmas sniper honored for January performance

The Central Hockey League announced today that Scott Sheppard of the Texas Brahmas has been named the Sher-Wood/Central Hockey League Player of the Month for the month of January 2009.

This marks the second straight month that a Brahmas’ player has won the monthly award as Jordan Cameron was named the Sher-Wood/CHL Player of the Month for December.

Sheppard finished the month of January with the most goals in the CHL with 13 and was tied for the league lead with 25 points and six power play goals. In 14 games played in January, the Brahmas went 12-1-1 and have taken control of the Southeast Division with a 30-10-4 record.

The Selkirk, Ontario native recorded points in 12 of the 14 games he played in. Most impressive for Sheppard during the month was his league-leading four game winning goals all scored in either overtime or in a shootout. For the season, Sheppard has 26 goals and 26 assists with a +16 plus/minus rating.

Sheppard will receive a Sher-Wood/CHL logoed portable DVD player, courtesy of Sher-Wood, to recognize his accomplishment.
