Despite loss in Odessa, Brahmas clinch playoff berth
The Texas Brahmas are heading to the playoffs again after earning a point in tonight's shootout loss to the Odessa Jackalopes. They join the Colorado Eagles, Mississippi RiverKings and the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs as post-season participants in the race for the Ray Miron President's Cup.
A total of ten of seventeen Central Hockey League member teams will qualify for post-season play, consisting of five clubs from each conference.
The playoffs will consist of four (4) rounds. Opening Round (#4 vs #5 seeds only in each conference) (Best of 3) Conference Semifinals (Best of 7) Conference Finals (Best of 7) Ray Miron President’s Cup Finals (Best of 7) Each of the 4 division regular season champions (Northwest, Northeast, Southwest, Southeast) will be seeded either 1st or 2nd in their conference for the opening round of the playoffs. The next 3 teams highest in each conference regular season standings, regardless of division, will be seeded 3rd, 4th, and 5th in each conference and will also qualify for post-season play.
The opening round will feature the #4 and #5 seeds in a best of three series in each conference, with the winners advancing to join the #1, #2 and #3 seeds in the Conference Semifinals.
The Ray Miron President’s Cup Finals will consist of the victorious two teams remaining from their respective Conference playoffs. Home ice advantage in the Ray Miron President’s Cup Finals will be awarded to the club with higher regular season point totals, regardless of any earlier playoff seeding. -The higher seeded club in each playoff meeting will receive home ice advantage -The opening round #4 vs #5 seed series will use a best of three game format - The subsequent three playoff rounds will use a best-of-seven game format -Any contests tied after regulation play will not use the shootout to determine a winner as in the regular season.
