Jason Deitsch named Oakley/CHL Player of the Week

Texas Brahmas star forward honored by league

The Central Hockey League announced today that Jason Deitsch has been named the Oakley/CHL Player of the Week for the period ending Feb 22nd.

Deitsch scored five goals with three assists during the Brahmas three games last week and had a +6 rating. Two of his goals served as game winners for the Brahmas, who have taken a firm grip of the Southeast Division, leading the Laredo Bucks by 13 points.

"Jason played really well this week when we needed him most," said Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong. "As the regular season comes to a close, we will continue to look to him for his leadership and playmaking skills."

The Cincinnati, Ohio native started the week in style with four points (2 G, 2 A) and a +4 rating in the Brahmas showdown with Bucks (a 5-2 Brahmas win). He then scored a goal in Saturday’s shootout loss to Odessa and had two goals and an assist in the Brahmas win on Sunday versus the Oklahoma City Blazers.

On the season, the 6', 0", 195-pound forward has 16 goals and 18 assists in 24 games played with the Brahmas. He has also played in 28 games with the AHL’s Houston Aeros, totaling 15 points (4 G, 11 A).
