Marc Belanger traded to the Wichita Thunder

With trade deadline looming, Wildfong making moves

The Wichita Thunder has acquired rookie forward Marc Belanger from the Brahmas in exchange for future considerations.

Belanger, 25, made an immediate impact on the Brahmas when he scored his first two goals (including the game-winner) as a professional in the team's home opener against the Mississippi RiverKings on October 18th. He earned the first star for his performance that night.

In 43 games played, Belanger has tallied 16 points (10 G, 6 A) and 22 penalty minutes.

The 6', 2" 200-pound forward played with the St. Norbert College Green Knights (NCAA Division III) in Wisconsin during the past four years. Belanger, a Nanaimo, British Columbia native, played a key role in St. Norbert capturing their first NCAA Division III ice hockey championship last March. The Green Knights finished the season with a 27-1-4 overall record and ended the year with a 29-game unbeaten streak.

During his time at St. Norbert, Belanger totaled 132 points in 119 games. He played two seasons of Junior Hockey with the BCHL's Penticton Panthers from 2002-2004.

With the trade deadline approaching on Monday at 3pm CST, more moves are expected to be announced as Dan Wildfong is sure to make additional moves to staff his team for the playoffs.
