Mike Vellinga returns this week

Veteran defenseman back after a month on the IR

The Texas Brahmas have announced that veteran defenseman Mike Vellinga will return to the blueline this week. The Chatham, Ontario native last played on December 27th in a home game against the Oklahoma City Blazers. The Brahmas won that game 4-3 in dramatic fashion with Vellinga scoring the first goal on a powerplay.

Vellinga, 30, had minor surgery on his hip but recovered quickly and has been awaiting medical clearance to return to the ice.

In 29 games played this season, he has tallied 14 points (1 G, 13 A) and 16 penalty minutes.
