Brahmas ready for big weekend against the Reds

Battle for second place heats up

The Texas Brahmas (32-19-8, 72 points) and the Allen Americans (33-17-9, 75 points) will do battle for three consecutive games this weekend - tonight and tomorrow night at the Allen Event Center and on Sunday afternoon at the NYTEX Sports Centre. With just three points separating the two teams in the race for second place and home ice advantage in the playoffs, the games are expected to be intense.

The Brahmas are 8-2 in their last 10 games and have won their last 10 games at NYTEX. The Americans have gone 4-6 in their last 10 games and are 4-6 in their last 10 games at the AEC.

Keith Johnson (RW), Jim McKenzie (RW) and Bruce Graham (C) have been the biggest thorns in the Brahmas' side this season, while T.J. Fox, Phil Fox and Adam Hogg have been the most effective scorers against the Americans.

You can expect Mark Guggenberger in net for the Brahmas for all three contests, while the Americans will likely depend on Rejean Beauchemin.

The Brahmas have won the last three in a row against the Americans, two by shootout. The Brahmas have a 4-3 record against the Americans this season. Clearly, Texas is playing better hockey at this stage, but you can never count the Americans out.

This should be good!
