Brahmas shut out by Oilers, 6-0

Loss keeps Tulsa in playoff hunt

An injury-ridden Brahmas team played only 14 skaters Friday night in Tulsa and the Oilers took advantage, topping Texas 6-0 at the BOK Center.

With Texas’ three top goal-scorers out of the lineup, Tulsa netminder Ian Keserich posted his third shutout of the season, each coming against the Brahmas. Keserich stopped all 18 shots fired on net by the Brahmas to improve to 21-16-2 on the year.

The win keeps Tulsa in the fight against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees for the fourth and final playoff berth in the Berry Conference.

Tulsa got two goals from Gary Steffes and one apiece from Mike Ullrich, Dylan Clarke, Michel Beausoleil and Ryan Cramer to spoil the night for Mark Guggenberger.

Steffes scored his first goal on a penalty shot at the 15:21 mark of the first period and then added a power play goal three minutes into the third period to put the Oilers up 5-0 at that point in the contest.

Mark Guggenberger made 29 saves on 35 shots faced and takes the loss. His record goes to 21-10-3-3 with a 2.23 GAA (1st in the league) and a .913 Save Percentage (9th in the league).

The Brahmas were assessed 20 minutes on 7 infractions and went for 0 for 4 on the power play.
