Texas Brahmas host the Laredo Bucks at NYTEX tonight
The Texas Brahmas (12-6-1) and the Laredo Bucks (14-5-0) will play for the first time ever as division opponents tonight at the NYTEX Sports Centre. The Brahmas shifted to the Southeast Division for the 2008-09 campaign, after spending the past several years in the Northern Conference.
Although the Bucks dominated the Fort Worth Brahmas in the past (11-1-0), the Texas Brahmas defeated the Bucks in both meetings last season with a 3-0 shutout win on December 7th and a 4-2 road win in on February 29th.
Laredo won their fourth straight game Friday night, as they beat the Arizona Sundogs 5-3 at the LEC. Jeff Bes and Darryl Smith each tallied twice, with Sebastien Centomo picking up 25 saves.
Bes, who leads the CHL in scoring with 39 points (7 G, 39 A), extended his league-high point streak to 17 games. Smith now has a nine game point streak.
Laredo is the number two penalty-killing team in the league with a 88.49 percentage. The Brahmas are number two in the league on the powerplay at 21.29 percent. Laredo netminder Sebastien Centomo is number two in the league in both GAA (2.34) and save percentage (.927). He has an 8-4-0 record in 12 games played. He will likely face Brett Jaeger in the opposite net. Jaeger is number three in the league with a 2.44 GAA and number four with a .921 save percentage. His record is 8-2-1 in 12 games played.
The Brahmas come into tonight’s game three points behind the Bucks in the division, after a 4-0 shutout of Bossier on Friday night.
The game starts at 7:05pm and can be seen on Nifty-TV.
