The Texas Brahmas announced on Friday that they have signed veteran forward Billy Tibbetts. Tibbetts, 34, is expected to take the ice wearing the #24 sweater tonight against the Laredo Bucks.
The 6' 2", 215 pound right wing has played in 409 games in eight years of professional hockey. He has experience in the NHL, AHL, UHL, ECHL and EPHL, accumulating 332 points (132 G, 200 A) and 2,111 penalty minutes.
Tibbetts split two seasons (2000-01, 2001-02) with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL) and the Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL). He also played nine games with the Philadelphia Flyers (NHL) during the 2001-02 season. He split the 2002-03 season between the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL) and the New York Rangers (NHL). In 82 NHL games, he scored 10 points (2 G, 8 A) with 269 penalty minutes.
He scored 19 points (8 G, 11 A) in 19 games played in the top Finnish league two seasons ago. He began this season with the Danbury Mad Hatters (EPHL). In just three games, Tibbetts tallied a goal and four assists.
"He was an absolutely wonderful employee and a model hockey player while he was here," Mad Hatters GM Brendan Tedstone said. "He did a great job teaching the younger players."
